Chapter 20 - SUNSET AND NEW HORIZONSThe golden hour sun dipped low over the horizon, casting a breathtaking canopy of amber, violet, and rose across the calm waters of the bay.

The garden reception was alive with music, laughter, and the joyous chatter of families whose children were finally running free, entirely liberated from the shadows of the past.

Noah stood near the center dance floor, holding the microphone with the confident grin of a boy who had beaten impossible odds.

“To my mom, my dad, and Erin,” Noah announced clearly into the microphone, his voice echoing across the lawn and bringing an instant hush of fond attention to the crowd. “Thank you for never giving up, for teaching me how to stand, and for showing us all that no matter how dark the room gets, love and courage will always find the light.”

A wave of warm applause and emotional cheers swept through the garden.

Elena wiped a stray tear of joy from her eye, leaning her head gently against Kuro’s shoulder—who was awkwardly, but proudly, holding a glass of champagne.

Underneath the cascading fairy lights of the marquee, Ethan pulled me close into his arms as the slow, melodic strains of our first dance began to play.

I rested my head against his chest, listening to the steady, strong rhythm of his heart—a heart that had once been hardened by the underworld, but had learned to beat entirely for love, family, and redemption.

“We made it,” I murmured softly, closing my eyes as we swayed to the music.

Ethan rested his chin gently on the top of my head, tightening his embrace as he looked out over the laughing crowd, the bay, and the bright horizon stretching out infinitely before us.

“We didn't just make it,” Ethan whispered into the evening breeze, smiling as the stars began to flicker to life above the Caldwell estate. “We won.”
