Chapter 10 - Queen of the EmpireThe penthouse nursery was bathed in the soft, warm glow of a midnight lamp.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the glittering lights of Los Angeles stretched out across the horizon like a sea of diamonds. But inside the room, the only light that mattered came from the tiny, perfect bundle resting against Lily’s chest.
Margaret Rose slept peacefully, her tiny chest rising and falling in steady, rhythmic breaths. Her fingers, impossibly small, curled tightly around Lily’s thumb.
The double doors opened softly.
Theodore stepped in, holding a single, heavy leather-bound ledger—the original registry of Carrington Global from 1952. He walked over to the rocking chair, smiled down at his granddaughter, and placed the ledger gently on the side table next to the lavender-scented lotion.
“How is the new CEO holding up?” Theodore asked softly, his eyes warm with a pride he hadn't shown in decades.
Lily looked up from the baby, a quiet, radiant smile touching her lips. Her exhaustion was completely gone, replaced by an unbreakable, fierce strength.
“She’s a very demanding shareholder, Theodore,” Lily whispered, adjusting the soft yellow blanket around her daughter. “She expects total dedication, absolute honesty, and a steady hand at the helm.”
Theodore let out a soft, low chuckle, resting his hand gently on the back of the rocking chair.
