And the person leading the entire operation wasn't Victoria, nor was it the board.
The master account was signed under a single name: William Sterling.
Emma gasped, backing away from the screen in horror. She looked down at Ethan, whose tears were silently flowing.
"He knew..." Emma whispered, her voice trembling. "Your father... he knew the whole time?"
"He didn't just know," Ethan wept. "He planned it. He brought Victoria in to replace Isabella because Isabella found out the truth and tried to go to the FBI. That's why Isabella is locked away in Europe."
Before Emma could absorb the horrifying revelation, the heavy fire doors of the kitchen buckled under a massive impact. The steel frame groaned as Marcus and his men began cutting through the hinges with a blowtorch.
The man she thought was an innocent victim—William Sterling—was the mastermind behind the entire nightmare. The confrontation in the hallway had been a setup to gain her trust and retrieve the drive.

"Emma, we have to go!" Ethan pulled her toward the kitchen’s industrial trash chute, which led directly down to the underground waste management facility and the estate’s outer drainage system.
"Inside, now!" Emma instructed, pushing Ethan into the chute first before jumping in right behind him just as the kitchen doors burst open.
