Chapter 10 - THE FINAL RECKONING AND THE UNEXPECTED TWISTThe smoke cleared from the foyer as the harsh emergency lights hummed back to life, replaced a moment later by the warm glow of the main chandeliers.

Dante stood amidst the fallen mercenaries, his breathing barely elevated, his sleeves rolled up to reveal corded muscle and faint, jagged scars from past wars. He wiped a streak of blood from his cheek with the back of his hand and looked directly up at the security camera lens linked to the panic room.

"It's over, Molly," Dante said into the air, knowing she was watching every frame. "You can come out now."

A moment later, the heavy steel bookcase slid open, and Molly stepped out into the hallway, her legs trembling slightly as she descended the grand staircase into the foyer.

She stared at the carnage below, then slowly raised her eyes to meet Dante’s slate-grey gaze as he walked up the stairs to meet her.

"Are you hurt?" Dante asked, his voice instantly softening as he reached her side, inspecting her from head to toe for any sign of injury.

"No," Molly whispered, shaking her head. "I'm... I'm okay."

"Good," Dante murmured. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a heavy, ornate gold signet ring bearing the Vance family crest—the very ring his grandfather had used to forge their empire in Chicago thirty years ago.

He took her hand, turning her palm upward, and slowly slid the heavy gold band onto her ring finger. It was a fraction too big, but it rested there with absolute, undeniable permanence.

"What is this?" Molly asked, her voice breathless as she stared down at the ring.

"Salvatore Rossi is finished," Dante said quietly, his eyes burning into hers with a fierce, unbreakable devotion. "Libby Kemp and Dylan Burroughs are currently sitting in a federal holding cell with twenty-five felony counts hanging over their heads. And this house... this city... belongs to us."

Dante leaned in close, his lips brushing the shell of her ear as the distant sirens of the police and his private cleanup crew wailed outside the gates.

"You saved my dog when nobody else cared, Molly," Dante whispered softly. "Now, you own everything I built. Tell me... are you ready to rule Harrow Falls by my side?"

May you like

Molly looked down at the heavy gold ring, then up into the dark, intense eyes of the most feared man in the state. For the first time in her life, she wasn't standing out of frame. She was standing right in the center of the world, and she wasn't going anywhere.

"Yes," Molly whispered, and smiled.
