The corrupt elements had been purged. The domestic workers who had been exploited and silenced for years were finally given back-pay, medical benefits, and legal protections under a newly established corporate welfare fund.
On a bright Sunday afternoon, I stood in the courtyard gardens, packing my leather briefcase. My assignment was officially complete. The forensic audit was signed, the stolen billions were recovered, and the syndicate was under legitimate, transparent restructuring.

Chairman Kang stood there, leaning on his cane, offering a rare, gentle smile.
“You’re leaving, Nia?” he asked quietly.
“My work here is done, Chairman Kang,” I replied, zipping my briefcase shut. “The books are balanced. The thieves are behind bars. And the house is clean.”
The old man nodded slowly, handing me a heavy, embossed envelope sealed with the Kang family crest.
“You taught my family a lesson we will never forget,” Chairman Kang said softly. “You proved that true strength doesn't come from a title, a surname, or a fist. It comes from the unyielding pursuit of truth.”
I accepted the envelope, smiled, and bowed respectfully.
“Thank you, Chairman Kang,” I said. “It was quite an internship.”
