By sunrise, federal agents in unmarked tactical vehicles swarmed the half-built stadium project downtown, arresting contractors, accountants, and city officials before they could shred a single document.

Walter Hayes was pulled from his penthouse office in handcuffs, his expensive silk tie ripped off, his face pale and trembling as the flashing lights of a dozen news crews captured his descent from power. He didn't look like a king anymore; he looked like an old, desperate man who had finally run out of lies.

The town of Franklin woke up to a new reality. People gathered in the streets outside the courthouse, not with anger, but with an overwhelming sense of collective relief. The shadow that had hung over the valley for decades had finally been lifted.
