Chapter 4 - THE CORPORATE CONSPIRACYJulian pulled the heavy wax-sealed document from the safe, the heavy paper crackling in the dead silence of the study. As he unfolded it, the full, horrifying scope of Evelyn’s infiltration became crystal clear.

It wasn't just a gold-digger marrying for wealth. It was an industrial espionage campaign orchestrated by Julian’s chief corporate rival, Harrison Kincaid—the ruthless CEO of Vance-Kincaid Logistics, the very company trying to enact a hostile takeover of Sterling Global.
"Look at the signatures," Marcus murmured, peering over Julian's shoulder. "Evelyn wasn't just using an alias. Her legal maiden name is Evelyn Kincaid. She is Harrison's estranged niece, trained from a young age in corporate sabotage and social engineering."
Julian felt a bitter laugh escape his lips. The pieces of the puzzle clicked together with terrifying precision. The chance meeting at the charity gala two years ago, the way she effortlessly fit into his social circle, her subtle insistence on firing his loyal long-term household staff and replacing them with agency workers—it had all been a meticulously calculated chess move to isolate him, murder his wife, take control of his assets, and hand Sterling Global over to Kincaid on a silver platter.
"So the wedding today wasn't just a celebration," Julian said, his voice dangerously calm as he set the documents down. "It was supposed to be the final execution phase. Once we signed the marriage license, she would have had automatic spousal control over my voting shares in the corporation."
"Precisely," Marcus nodded, tapping his tablet. "And with the emergency security lock down triggered from the master console, no one could leave or call for help until the transfer of shares was digitally signed and broadcasted to the stock exchange at midnight."
Chloe tugged gently on the hem of Julian's jacket. "Daddy? The bad man is outside."
Julian whipped his head toward the floor-to-ceiling French doors that led out to the rear gardens. Through the reinforced glass, standing on the moonlit stone patio under the shadow of the weeping willows, was a familiar silhouette.
Harrison Kincaid himself, dressed in a sharp tuxedo, holding a silver-knobbed cane, looking through the glass with a cold, predatory smirk. Behind him stood four armed private mercenaries clad in black tactical gear, their assault rifles slung casually across their chests.
"Well, well, well," Kincaid’s voice echoed softly through the intercom speaker mounted beside the door. "It seems my niece got a little too greedy and tripped the alarm before the main course was served. A tragedy, really. She always lacked the patience for a long con."
Julian stepped in front of Chloe, shielding her with his body, while his hand slid silently into the mahogany desk drawer, wrapping around the cold steel grip of his grandfather’s vintage Colt .45 revolver.
"You're trespassing on private property, Harrison," Julian called out, his voice ringing loud and clear through the intercom. "And your little operative is currently in federal handcuffs on her way to a maximum-security holding cell."
Kincaid let out a dry, chilling chuckle. He tapped his cane against the glass. "Do you honestly believe a local holding cell can contain a Kincaid, Julian? My people cleared the transport van three blocks down the road before you even finished your little speech. Evelyn is already out."

Julian’s heart skipped a beat. He looked at Marcus, who was furiously typing on his encrypted satellite phone.
"Mr. Sterling," Marcus whispered, his face draining of all color. "The satellite uplink... the local cell towers have been jammed. We're completely cut off from the outside world."
