Chapter 2 - THE ENFORCERI stepped out onto my porch for air, and that’s when I saw it: a black sedan parked across the street. It had been there for three hours.

My phone buzzed. An unknown number.

"Dr. Rowan," a cold, synthesized voice said. "That device you removed? It was never meant to be found. And Eli Mercer was never meant to survive the crash. You’ve complicated a very expensive timeline."
