Chapter 5 - THE TRAP CLOSES"What are you doing down there?!" Lucas’s voice boomed from the doorway.

Heavy footsteps pounded across the hardwood floor. Before I could pull my hand out of the vent, Lucas grabbed my hair, yanking me upward with a vicious jerk. I screamed, the pain tearing through my ribs.
"You lied to me!" Lucas snarled, his face twisting into rage as he saw the hard drive clutched in my fist. "You absolute bitch!"

The heavy mahogany front door of the apartment didn't just open—it shattered inward off its reinforced hinges with a deafening crash.

Lucas froze, his hand suspended in the air, his color draining instantly. "R-Romano? You're trespassing—this is a private residence—"

His eyes were locked entirely on Lucas's hand tangled in my hair.
