Chapter 5 - THE UNRAVELING OF THE WEBThe federal investigators gave us twenty minutes in the holding room before taking Adrian and Julian away for formal booking. As the handcuffs clicked around Adrian’s wrists, his last shred of arrogant composure completely shattered.

"You'll ruin yourself too, Elena!" he screamed as the guards dragged him toward the steel door. "Without my corporate shell, your business reputation will take a hit! People will talk!"

"Let them talk," I said calmly, not even blinking as the heavy door slammed shut behind him, cutting off his frantic cries.

I turned to Marcus, letting out a long, steady breath. The adrenaline rush was finally beginning to subside, replaced by a profound, intoxicating sense of liberation. My father always told me that truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it—you just have to let it loose, and it will tear its way out.

"Are all the asset freezes holding?" I asked Marcus, checking my tablet.

"Completely," Marcus confirmed, flashing an approving smile. "Every single corporate account, secondary trust, and hidden investment portfolio Adrian and Julian set up has been successfully redirected into a receivership controlled entirely by you. By sundown, Adrian's startup will be legally liquidated, and its debts transferred directly to his personal liability."

"And the house?"

"It was never touched by his fraudulent deed," Marcus replied. "The county clerk rejected his filing thirty seconds after our smart-contract flag triggered an automated fraud alert. Your property title is completely secure."

I nodded slowly, looking out the reinforced glass window toward the tarmac where airplanes were lifting off into the afternoon sky. Adrian thought he was flying away to a brand-new life of freedom and wealth at my expense. Instead, he had flown straight into the tightest legal cage money and intelligence could build.

And this was only the beginning. The public fallout was going to be catastrophic for Adrian’s professional reputation, and I intended to make sure every single investor, partner, and social circle knew exactly what kind of monster he really was.
