Chapter 5 - The Corporate ExecutionThe war didn't stay private for long. Within forty-eight hours, Doña Carmen and Mariana launched their counter-offensive: a coordinated social media smear campaign.

They posted emotional, tear-filled videos online, claiming that Valeria was a ruthless corporate tyrant who had abandoned her ailing in-laws, hoarded millions, and thrown her devoted husband onto the streets while battling a fabricated illness. Mariana even posted doctored text messages, painting Valeria as abusive and unstable.

By Monday morning, the internet was buzzing. Comments flooded Valeria’s professional LinkedIn profile and Instagram page: “Monster wife!” “Heartless gold-digger!” “Boycott her company!”

At 9:00 AM, Valeria walked into the executive boardroom of Vanguard Financial Group, where the board of directors sat in tense silence. The CEO, an old mentor of hers, looked gravely at her as she took her seat.

"Valeria, you’ve seen the viral posts?" the CEO asked, sliding a tablet across the sleek mahogany table. "The board is getting calls from investors. Public relations is taking a massive hit. If this isn't resolved, we might have to place you on administrative leave."

Valeria didn't panic. She calmly opened her laptop, connected it to the main projector screen, and smiled.

"Let them talk," Valeria said smoothly. "Before coming in here, my legal team filed a public response containing certified hospital records proving I was admitted for severe pneumonia, alongside bank statements showing that Ricardo’s family received over 1.2 million pesos in illicit transfers from my personal accounts over three years."

She clicked a button, projecting a crystal-clear timeline onto the screen. Every wire transfer, every fraudulent receipt, and every abusive text message from Doña Carmen was displayed in high definition for every board member to see.

"Furthermore," Valeria continued, her voice echoing in the silent room, "the social media accounts posting these defamatory claims have been officially served with cease-and-desist orders for libel, extortion, and cyber-harassment. By noon, their accounts will be seized by court order."

The boardroom was dead silent. One by one, the directors’ expressions shifted from skepticism to absolute awe. The board chairman cleared his throat, leaning forward.

"My god, Valeria," the chairman whispered. "You didn't just bring a knife to a gunfight. You brought an airstrike."
