Chapter 10 - A New DawnOne year later.

The grand ballroom of Bellaforte—the very same restaurant where Grace Bennett had once balanced lobster ravioli on tired trays and stared down the most feared mob boss in Boston—was packed to maximum capacity.
Only this time, the room wasn't filled with terrified politicians and whispering socialites bracing for a tragedy.
It was a celebration.
Flashbulbs popped as local journalists and high-society elites gathered for the annual Boston Philanthropic Foundation Gala. On the stage, standing proudly behind a sleek mahogany podium, was Grace Bennett—now the executive director of the Hale Foundation, dedicating millions of dollars in newly laundered, fully legalized corporate assets to fund foster care reform, youth education, and family support programs across New England.
Sitting in the front row, wearing a sharp little black dress with a velvet bow in her hair, was nine-year-old Sophie, clapping with all her might.
And standing quietly near the back exit, clad in a perfectly tailored black tuxedo, arms crossed casually over his chest, was Dominic Hale.
He wasn't hiding in the shadows anymore. He didn't need to. The empire he built was no longer built on fear and blood; it was built on protection, loyalty, and a brand-new legacy.
As Grace stepped away from the podium amid thunderous, standing applause, her eyes scanned the crowd until they locked onto the tall, imposing figure standing near the back.
Dominic didn't smile—not broadly, anyway. But the slight nod he gave her carried more weight, more respect, and more warmth than a thousand spoken words.
Grace smiled back, her heart swelling with a fierce, unbreakable sense of triumph.
She had started her journey as a broke waitress carrying plates in a room full of cowards. Now, she stood at the very top of the world—not because she joined the mob, but because she had the courage to look a monster in the eye, listen to a terrified little girl’s whisper, and change the course of history forever.
As the music swelled and the ballroom erupted into celebration, Sophie ran up the steps of the stage, throwing her arms around Grace’s waist. Grace laughed, wrapping her arms around the little girl, and looked back toward the exit.

Dominic was already walking toward them, ready to take them home.
And for the first time in their lives, none of them were running from the dark anymore.
