Chapter 8 - THE NEW HORIZON

By Saturday morning, the house on Ridge Road was completely empty.
The "For Sale" sign stood proudly in the front yard, fluttering gently in the morning breeze. The garage was locked, clean, and silent, the encrypted terminals disassembled and packed securely into heavy-duty Pelican cases sitting in the bed of my truck.
I stood on the front porch one last time, wearing a fresh black tactical jacket, breathing in the sharp, crisp scent of pine and high-altitude freedom.
No wife complaining about social embarrassment. No corrupt local sheriffs trying to flex cheap political muscle over a turkey club. No fake peace built on cowardice and compromise.
Just an open road, a clear mission, and a man who finally remembered exactly who he was.

I stepped off the porch, climbed into the driver's seat of my truck, and turned the ignition. The powerful diesel engine roared to life with a deep, steady, unbreakable purr—tuned to absolute perfection, ready for whatever road lay ahead.
I shifted into drive, pulled out of the driveway, and didn't look back once as I drove straight toward the horizon.
