Chapter 4 - The Boardroom AmbushBy Monday morning, the corporate war had officially begun.

The emergency board meeting called by Uncle Victor was scheduled for 10:00 AM at the grand headquarters of Okafor Development in Victoria Island.
When Daniel and I walked through the heavy glass double doors of the boardroom, twenty senior directors sat around the massive marble table. Uncle Victor sat at the head—the seat traditionally reserved for the CEO—wearing an expensive cream-colored suit and an arrogant, triumphant smirk.
Vanessa sat right beside him, acting as his self-appointed corporate advisor.
“Well, look who decided to grace us with their presence,” Victor announced loudly, leaning back in his leather chair. “The grieving widower and his little gold-digging bride.”
Several board members chuckled nervously.
Daniel didn't flinch. He walked steadily to the head of the table, looked straight down at his uncle, and said in a voice cold enough to freeze glass:
“Move, Victor. You’re sitting in my chair.”
Victor laughed, shaking his head. “Your chair, Daniel? Let’s talk about chairs and legal legitimacy. As we speak, my legal team has filed an injunction at the Federal High Court to freeze Grace’s twenty-eight-percent voting trust. A marriage performed on a deathbed under suspicious manipulation is legally voidable.”
“Is it?” I asked calmly, stepping out from behind Daniel.

I wore a sharp, tailored charcoal-grey blazer dress, my hair pulled back into a sleek chignon, carrying the leather portfolio containing the contents of Grace’s wooden box.
Vanessa sneered, crossing her arms. “And who invited the orphan? Security, remove this trespasser before she tries to steal the silver spoons.”
