Chapter 6 - The ArrestThe audio echoed off the high glass walls of the boardroom, spelling out Victor’s crimes in agonizing detail.
Victor lunged across the table like a cornered animal, attempting to rip the console cords out of the wall, but Daniel caught his wrist in a grip of iron, slamming him back down into his chair with bone-crushing force.
“It’s over, Victor,” Daniel whispered, his eyes blazing with righteous fury.
The heavy mahogany doors of the boardroom swung open once again.
Three armed federal economic crime officers, accompanied by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, marched into the room.
The lead officer stopped beside Victor, pulled out an official arrest warrant, and snapped heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists.
“Victor Okafor, you are formally placed under arrest for corporate embezzlement, fraud, obstruction of justice, and the murder of Chief Engineer Nwosu,” the officer announced loudly.

Vanessa shrieked in absolute terror, grabbing her designer handbag and bolting toward the exit, only to be blocked by federal marshals who were already securing the perimeter.
As Victor was dragged out of the boardroom, kicking, screaming, and cursing my name, absolute, breathless silence settled over the remaining directors.
