Chapter 10 - The Final Plot TwistThree nights later, the heavy iron gates of the Vale estate were blown off their hinges by a synchronized explosive charge.

Victor Vale’s private tactical squad swarmed up the driveway in three black SUVs, weapons raised, expecting an easy ambush. Victor himself stepped out of the lead vehicle, a smug, triumphant grin plastered across his face as he aimed a silenced pistol toward the darkened east wing windows.

"Burn it to the ground," Victor laughed to his lead mercenary. "Kill the guards. Bring me the boy and the ledger."

The mercenaries kicked open the heavy oak doors of the east wing and poured into the hallway.

They rushed down the corridor, guns raised, kicking open the door to Julian’s study—

And stopped dead in their tracks.

The room was completely empty.

No wheelchair. No desk. No manuscripts.

Instead, the walls were lined not with books, but with glowing digital screens. Every monitor was turned on, broadcasting live feeds from the estate’s perimeter, the front gates, and... the master control room.

On the central monitor, Dominic Vale sat in the executive leather chair, spinning a heavy silver pen between his fingers. Beside him stood Grace, her arms crossed over her navy cardigan, looking calm and entirely unbothered.

And sitting right in the center of the screen, smiling coldly from a reinforced steel panic room deep beneath the estate, was Julian Vale—holding a remote detonator in his steady right hand.

"Looking for us, Uncle?" Dominic’s voice echoed softly through the high-end intercom speakers hidden in the ceiling.

Victor, standing in the hallway outside through a live camera feed, froze in absolute terror.

"You walked right into the climax, Victor," Grace’s voice cut through the speakers, rich and mocking. "And trust me... you're not going to like the ending."

Julian pressed his thumb down on the red button.

BOOM.

The heavy steel blast doors of the east wing slammed shut automatically, locking Victor and his entire mercenary squad inside a high-security containment grid designed by Dominic to withstand a military siege. Sirens wailed, red emergency lights flashed, and automated suppression systems flooded the corridors with dense, disorienting tear gas.

Through the surveillance monitors, Dominic watched his uncle cough, stumble, and fall to his knees against the marble floor.

Dominic leaned back in his chair, turning his head to look at Grace, who smiled down at him with a warmth that finally chased away seven years of bitter shadows.

Dominic picked up his coffee cup, raised it toward the monitor where his uncle was screaming into the void, and whispered into the quiet, victorious night:

"The plot thickens."
