Chapter 7 - THE UNMASKING ON LIVE TELEVISIONA sudden flashbang grenade exploded outside the front porch, blowing out the glass windows into a shower of glittering shards. SWAT officers dropped from the ceiling rafters, shouting commands as smoke filled the room.

“DOWN ON THE GROUND! NOW!”

Daniel panicked, aiming his gun at my mother, but Detective Vance burst through the side door, firing two precise shots. The bullets struck Daniel’s shoulder and arm, forcing him to drop his weapon as he screamed in agony, crashing to the floor in a pool of his own blood.

Victor attempted to smash the satellite laptop to destroy the evidence of the offshore transfer, but I lunged forward, tackling him across the glass table. Despite the searing pain in my abdominal stitches, I pinned his hands to the floor, jamming the override key into the terminal.

“System override accepted,” the digital voice announced from the laptop. “All assets locked. Transferred to Federal Bureau of Investigation Asset Forfeiture Unit.”

Victor stared at me in disbelief, his aristocratic composure entirely shattered. “You... you ruined twenty years of planning!”

“No,” I panted, wiping blood and sweat from my eyes. “You ruined your own lives the day you thought you could treat human beings like chess pieces.”

Within minutes, the cabin was swarming with federal agents, medical personnel, and police officers. My mother was untied and immediately placed in handcuffs by federal marshals.

She looked at me with tears streaming down her face. “Madison... please... I did it all for you. I wanted you to have a life where you never had to worry about money...”

“You lied to me my whole life, Mom,” I said, stepping back from her as the medical team checked my reopening wounds. “You let Daniel abuse me so I would look like the weak, broken daughter, keeping the attention off your financial crimes. You were never protecting me. You were using me as a shield.”

As Victor, Daniel, and my mother were dragged out into the bright light of the news cameras hovering outside, a reporter pushed her microphone through the police line.

“Ms. Vance! Live on national television—is it true that the entire Carter fortune was built on defense fraud? Is your family behind the offshore syndicate?”

I stood tall in front of the flashing cameras, covered in blood, rain, and bandages, staring straight into the lens.

“The Carter family is finished,” I said clearly, my voice echoing across the live news broadcast watched by millions. “And the truth about Box 408 is finally going to be opened.”
