Chapter 20 - The Ultimate SurrenderElena buried her face in her hands, her shoulders shaking with agonizing sobs.

"I didn't mean to steal them, Tobias," she wept, her voice breaking. "When I found out I was pregnant and you threw me out of your life, I was desperate. Your research team had abandoned the cardiology project, claiming it wasn't profitable. I took the hard drives because it was my life's work too! I helped write every single algorithm!"

The brutal truth hung in the heavy, suffocating silence of the foyer.

Clara Vance stood watching with a triumphant grin, basking in the destruction she had orchestrated. "So, Tobias. Will you protect your wife and face federal indictment for corporate espionage? Or will you sign these papers, hand Marrow Holdings over to my board, and let Elena take the fall alone?"

Clara pulled a thick manila folder from her briefcase and tossed it onto the marble console table.

I looked at the papers, then down at Elena—the woman I loved, the mother of my sons, standing broken before me.

The choice was clear.

For three years, I had believed that control could build empires, protect my heart, and conquer the world. But empires meant nothing without the people who gave them soul.

I didn't reach for the papers Clara had brought. Instead, I picked up my private encrypted phone from the console, dialed a single three-digit extension, and put it to my ear.

"Richard," I said, my voice steady, calm, and absolute. "Call the federal prosecutor's office. Tell them Tobias Marrow is walking into federal plaza right now to self-report a corporate restructuring, and bring every single legal filing we have."

Clara’s triumphant smile instantly vanished. "Are you insane?! You'll lose everything!"

"I already lost everything once," I said, looking down at Elena and pulling her into my arms, resting my chin against her auburn hair. "I am not doing it again."

I turned my cold, unblinking gaze onto Clara Vance. "You wanted a war? You just declared it on a man who has nothing left to lose. Now get out of my home before I have you arrested for trespassing."

Clara glared at me with pure venom, grabbed her umbrella, and bolted into the elevator as the doors closed.

The penthouse grew quiet again, save for the soft sound of Elena’s tears against my chest.

I wrapped my arms around my wife, kissed the top of her head, and smiled faintly. The storm was coming, the federal agents would be at our door by morning, and Marrow Holdings might crumble to dust.

But as long as I held my family, we were unbreakable.
