Chapter 10 - THE FINAL SALUTEThree days later, the front page of every major newspaper carried the explosive headline: "TECH ICON ETHAN CALDWELL ARRESTED IN MASSIVE FRAUD AND EXTORTION SCANDAL; WIFE RESCUED BY RETIRED ARMY COLONEL FATHER."

The corporate board of Caldwell Tech had already voted unanimously to strip Ethan of his title, freezing his assets and cooperating fully with federal prosecutors. Legal experts predicted he would spend the rest of his natural life behind bars.

Back at the quiet farmhouse outside Nashville, the air smelled once again of fresh coffee, pine trees, and absolute peace.

Richard stepped out onto his front porch, holding a steaming mug in his hand. He looked out across the green valley where the morning sun was burning through the mist, golden and warm. The storm had passed. The threat was neutralized.

A gentle footstep sounded behind him. He turned to see Emily standing in the doorway. She looked paler than usual, and a faint bruise still lingered on her jaw, but she stood tall. Her shoulders were back, her chin was up, and for the first time in six years, she was smiling with her whole heart.

Richard smiled back, raised his coffee mug in a silent, affectionate salute, and whispered into the morning breeze:

Mission accomplished.
