CHAPTER 3 — THE HERO WHO SAVED EVERYONE

The rooftop had become a battlefield.

Concrete shattered under bullets.

Smoke filled the air.

Officer Hayes fired carefully while protecting Ethan.

Rex chased the attackers with fearless precision.

One gunman managed to escape toward the rooftop staircase.

Another reached for a remote control hidden inside his pocket.

Hayes noticed it too late.

The man smiled.

"You all lose."

He pressed the button.

Nothing happened.

His smile disappeared.

Then everyone heard barking.

Rex stood twenty feet away.

The remote was clenched between his teeth.

During the chaos...

The dog had quietly stolen it from the attacker's hand before he could activate the explosives planted inside the building.

The criminal lunged toward Rex.

Ethan threw himself forward without hesitation.

He took the bullet meant for the dog.

Rex immediately stood over Ethan's body, refusing to leave him.

The remaining officers finally overpowered the attackers.

Minutes later...

Bomb technicians discovered enough explosives hidden throughout the building to destroy the entire hotel.

Hundreds of innocent lives had been saved.

In the ambulance, Ethan slowly opened his eyes.

Rex was still beside him.

The dog gently rested his head on Ethan's chest exactly as he had on the rooftop.

Officer Hayes smiled.

"I've worked with Rex for seven years."

"I thought I trained him."

He looked at Ethan.

"Turns out..."

"You taught him something far greater."

"Loyalty."

Months later, the investigation exposed a corrupt network of officials who had staged robberies, erased evidence, and framed innocent people to protect their criminal empire.

Every member was arrested.

Ethan's name was completely cleared.

The police department officially recognized him for his courage.

But Ethan accepted only one reward.

When the ceremony ended...

Officer Hayes removed Rex's working vest.

He handed Ethan the leash.

"I think he's already chosen where he belongs."

Rex wagged his tail once...

Then quietly walked back to the man who had once rescued a starving puppy years before.

Sometimes justice comes through evidence.

Sometimes it comes through courage.

And sometimes...

The one soul that refuses to believe a lie is the one that cannot speak at all.

THE END.
