CHAPTER 1 — The Fight That Was Never Meant to End

Every Saturday night, Cellblock C transformed into something far more terrifying than a prison.

It became an arena.

Hundreds of inmates packed every steel balcony, pounding the railings until the entire building shook. Guards looked the other way as money changed hands. Bets reached hundreds of thousands of dollars. Blood was the entertainment everyone came to see.

Only one rule existed.

Two men entered.

Only one walked away.

No one had survived facing Mason Kane for nearly four years.

Standing six-foot-five, covered in faded military tattoos and old knife scars, Mason wasn't just the prison's strongest fighter.

He was its executioner.

The inmates called him "The Monster."

Not because he enjoyed killing.

Because nobody had ever lived long enough to stop him.

That night, the crowd erupted as another challenger was dragged into the ring.

His name was Daniel Cross.

Unlike the others, Daniel wasn't built like a fighter.

He was thin.

Bruised.

Barely able to stand after weeks in solitary confinement.

The crowd laughed immediately.

"This one's dead in under thirty seconds!"

"Mason's going to break every bone he has!"

"Take the over? You're crazy!"

Marcus—the corrupt prison boss who secretly controlled the underground fights—grinned from his private balcony.

He raised one finger.

"Start."

The bell echoed.

Daniel never even lifted his fists.

He simply stared at Mason.

Then...

He smiled.

Not with fear.

With recognition.

Mason froze.

For one impossible second, every sound inside the prison disappeared.

Because Daniel's face reminded him of someone he had buried years ago.

His younger brother.

The brother everyone said had died overseas.

The distraction lasted only a heartbeat.

Marcus slammed his fist onto the railing.

"FINISH HIM!"

The entire prison screamed the same words.

Mason swung.

His fist stopped less than an inch from Daniel's face.

Nobody...

Nobody had ever seen Mason hesitate before.

Daniel slowly leaned closer and whispered so quietly only Mason could hear.

"I know who betrayed your family."

Mason's blood turned to ice.

The bell was still ringing.

But suddenly...

May you like

This fight was no longer about survival.

It was about a secret someone had murdered to keep buried.
