Chapter 6 - The Federal InterventionBefore the Cole family could recover from the shock of losing their forty-million-dollar lifeline, the heavy glass doors of the restaurant swung open again.

This time, it wasn't waitstaff or patrons entering.

Two federal economic crime investigators, accompanied by local police officers, marched straight into the private dining room.

The lead investigator flashed his badge directly in front of Richard’s face.

“Richard Cole. Trevor Cole. Vincent Hale,” the inspector announced loudly. “You are formally under arrest for corporate wire fraud, securities manipulation, and systematic embezzlement.”

Richard’s knees buckled. He grabbed onto the back of a chair to keep from collapsing as heavy steel handcuffs snapped onto his wrists with a sharp, metallic click.

Trevor began shouting frantic protests, but the officers ignored him completely, guiding both men toward the exit in absolute public disgrace.

As they were hauled past the dining room windows, patrons stared in stunned silence at the downfall of one of Manhattan’s most prominent hospitality dynasties.
