Inside the private parlor, the sunlight streamed warmly through the arched windows, illuminating polished oak and fresh white lilies in crystal vases.
Richard Morgan sat at his desk, signing a stack of legal documents that officially transferred half of the Morgan estate into a trust bearing Helen’s name, dedicated to neurological research and child welfare.
The office door opened softly, and little Lily ran in, her white dress clean and bright, laughing as Michael chased her around the desk with a toy piano. Rose sat quietly in a velvet armchair by the window, watching them with a peaceful, contented smile, her old cane resting against the wall.
Richard leaned back in his leather chair, watching his son and his newly found niece play. The gold and crystal of the room no longer felt like a prison designed to keep the world out. It felt like a home.
