Chapter 9 - THE UNMASKINGInstantly, the massive high-definition screens behind the dais flickered to life.

Instead of corporate quarterly growth charts, the display projected a high-resolution, recorded video file dated three days ago. On the screen, Marcus Vance sat across a mahogany desk in Zurich, speaking with an unknown operative, explicitly detailing the plan to eliminate the remaining Morgan heirs and consolidate the entire corporate empire under his own control.

The ballroom erupted into chaos. Investors screamed, champagne flutes dropped and shattered on the marble floor, and flashing camera bulbs from press photographers outside began to illuminate the windows.

"No... no, that's a deepfake! That's fabricated!" Marcus shrieked, lunging frantically toward the control panel to cut the feed.

Two burly state troopers—dispatched quietly by Rose’s emergency contacts twenty minutes prior—intervened, slamming Marcus’s arms behind his back and snapping cold steel handcuffs around his wrists.

"Marcus Vance, you are under arrest for conspiracy, corporate espionage, and attempted murder," the lead officer declared, reading him his rights as the flashbulbs blinded the room.

As Marcus was dragged away, kicking and screaming obscenities, the heavy silence of the ballroom returned. Hundreds of elite guests stared in stunned disbelief at the stage.

Richard turned around, looking out over the sea of faces. He walked back to where Michael and Lily stood. He gently knelt down to Lily’s eye level, brushing a stray lock of dark hair from her forehead.

"You're safe now, Lily," Richard whispered, his voice trembling with emotion. "You're home."

Lily looked at him, her one blue eye and one amber eye catching the brilliant light of the crystal chandeliers. For the first time all evening, she smiled—a bright, beautiful smile that melted the last frozen remnants of Richard’s guarded heart.

Michael stepped forward, grinning proudly as he put a comforting arm around his cousin's shoulders.
