Chapter 4 - The Boardroom CoupThe news didn't stay hidden. By the next morning, the board was in an uproar. Rumors of a "secret heir" had reached the press. Patrick’s rival, Elias Thorne, stood at the head of the boardroom table.

"We hear you’ve been playing house, Patrick," Thorne sneered. "We also hear the girl is from the wrong side of the tracks. The shareholders are terrified that the Gibson legacy is being handed to some street urchin."
Patrick looked at them—these men who had sipped his champagne and plotted behind his back.
"She is not an heir," Patrick said, his voice deadly calm. "She is my granddaughter. And if any of you mentions her name in the press again, I will personally buy your company and liquidate your assets before you can finish your coffee."
