Chapter 10 - THE LEGACY OF NEW YORKTwo years later.

A soft spring breeze blew through the open French doors of the nursery on the second floor of the Reyes Manor.
The room was painted in warm cream and gold, filled with leather-bound children's books and a hand-carved mahogany crib.
Standing beside the crib was Mateo.
The feared Don of New York was carefully holding a tiny three-month-old baby girl wrapped in a soft pink blanket.
"Shh... mia piccola," Mateo cooed gently, rocking his daughter in his massive, scarred arms.
Elise stepped into the nursery, wearing a comfortable white lace robe, her dark hair tumbling over her shoulders. She leaned against the doorframe, watching her husband with a full heart.
"Is the new Donnessa refusing to sleep?" Elise teased softly, walking over to stand beside him.
"She’s a Reyes," Mateo whispered proudly, looking down at his daughter’s bright hazel eyes. "She wants to rule the world already."
Elise leaned up, pressing a gentle kiss to Mateo’s cheek, then kissed her baby daughter’s forehead.
"Her name is Sophia Marcus Reyes," Elise said softly. "She’s going to build a better world, Mateo. Not rule it."
"With a mother like you," Mateo murmured, wrapping his free arm around Elise’s waist, pulling his family close against his chest, "she will do both."
They stood together by the window, watching the morning sun break over the Atlantic Ocean, casting a golden light over the city they had conquered together.
The secrets were gone. The blood debts were paid.
