Chapter 6 - Federal JusticeThe car doors flew open, and four federal law enforcement officers marched directly into the courtyard, led by an older detective whose uniform badge gleamed under the evening lights.

Detective Vance stopped in front of us, pulling an official warrant folder from his briefcase.
“Victor Blackwood,” Detective Vance announced loudly, his voice echoing across the courtyard. “You are formally placed under arrest for the kidnapping, conspiracy, and murder of Daniel Mercer, as well as federal smuggling, tax evasion, and obstruction of justice.”
Victor didn't resist. He didn't run. He simply held out his wrists, allowing the officers to snap heavy steel handcuffs onto his hands with a sharp, metallic click.
As Victor was guided past the sparkling champagne fountains toward the waiting police cruiser, he looked back at me one last time. His eyes weren't filled with anger anymore—only profound, bitter regret.
“Your father... was the best mechanic I ever employed, Noah,” Victor said softly before stepping into the vehicle. “I just wish I had been half as honorable as he was.”
