Chapter 10 - Sunrise Over the Moretti EmpireThree days later, the mansion was bathed in the warm, golden glow of a peaceful afternoon sun.

The toxic neurotoxins had been completely flushed from Isabella’s system. Her color had returned, her strength was steadily coming back, and as I walked into the master bedroom, she was sitting up in bed, cradling little Luca in her arms while laughing softly at something he did.

She looked radiant. Stronger, healthier, and happier than she had ever been.

I leaned against the doorway, watching them with a profound sense of peace settling deep into my chest.

Isabella looked up, catching my gaze. A warm, loving smile spread across her face.

“What are you standing out there for, Mr. Moretti?” she teased softly, her voice melodic and clear. “Come here.”

I walked across the room, sitting down on the edge of the mattress and wrapping my arms around both of them, pulling them close against my heart.

“How are you feeling today, my love?” I asked, kissing the top of Luca’s head and then pressing my lips gently to hers.

“I feel invincible,” Isabella whispered, resting her head against my shoulder. “With you here, I know nothing can ever touch us again.”

“Never,” I promised, my voice fierce and absolute.

Downstairs, Evelyn and Richard were awaiting trial in maximum-security federal detention facilities, facing life sentences without the possibility of parole. The Garcia syndicate had been dismantled from the top down, its leaders scattered or imprisoned.

In this city, people knew better than to create problems for Vincent Moretti.

Because beneath every empire I built lay a simple, unyielding truth:

May you like

You can threaten my business. You can challenge my power.

But if you ever dare to touch my family, you will learn firsthand why the monsters in the dark pray that they never cross my path.
