Chapter 7 - The Confession BroadcastedMateo’s bravado shattered completely. The arrogant cartel heir dissolved into a pathetic, whimpering mess.

“Okay! Okay! I’ll do it! I’ll transfer everything! Just don’t kill me!” Mateo sobbed, his legs shaking so violently he could barely stand as Marcus shoved him back into his office chair.
For the next ten minutes, under the cold, unblinking barrel of my gun, Mateo frantically tapped away at his laptop keyboard. Account after account was wiped, offshore assets were transferred, and encrypted legal petitions were formally withdrawn from the municipal court system with digital signatures stamped and verified.
Marcus monitored every keystroke on a tactical tablet.
“Confirmation received, Mr. Moretti,” Marcus nodded quietly. “All forged legal documents have been permanently rescinded. The federal complaints have been officially flagged as fraudulent and dismissed. The syndicate’s primary offshore accounts have been completely drained.”
“Good,” I said, holstering my weapon.
I looked down at Mateo, who was slumped over his desk, weeping quietly in utter defeat.
“You wanted my empire, Mateo?” I said softly, leaning over him. “You wanted to tear my family apart? Consider this a lesson in economics. When you play games with apex predators, you don’t lose your money. You lose your future.”
I turned around, gesturing to my men. “Tie him and his crew up, leave an anonymous tip for the local precinct with all their encrypted server data, and let the authorities pick up the trash.”
“Yes, sir,” Marcus replied.
As we walked out of the warehouse into the cool predawn air, the first rays of golden sunlight were beginning to break over the ocean horizon. The storm had passed, leaving the sky impossibly clear.
My phone buzzed in my pocket.
It was an automated security ping from the mansion.
Intruder alert? My heart skipped a beat for a fraction of a second before I looked closer at the notification.
No. It was just Isabella waking up.

I climbed into the armored transport and instructed the driver to step on the gas. It was time to go home to my wife and my son.
Little did I know, back at the Moretti estate, a final, unexpected visitor had arrived—and she had brought a secret that would change our lives forever.
