I stood by the large bay window of my new corner office, watching Mason and Ava chase each other across the courtyard lawn while their father, Thomas, watched them with a warm, easy smile.
My phone buzzed on the mahogany desk.
I picked it up. It wasn't a text message this time, but a formal legal notification from the county courthouse: Divorce decree finalized. Sole assets retained. Name restored.

I locked the screen, placed the phone face down on the desk, and turned back to look at the framed blueprint hanging on the wall—the blueprint for the new community center, funded entirely by my own foundation, designed to give people a second chance when life knocked them down.
