Chapter 8 - General Pierce’s Ultimatum: A Military Sting OperationWith the domestic financial investigation wrapping up and Blake Harrington cooperating with federal prosecutors, the Department of Defense shifted its focus to the international tentacles of the cyber-laundering network. The foreign entities that had been purchasing stolen defense technology data through Blake’s proxy accounts were still active—and Washington wanted them neutralized.

Three days after the ballroom sting, General Pierce summoned me to a secure briefing room deep within the federal complex. Two senior intelligence officers from the National Security Agency were already seated at the table, their laptops open to encrypted satellite links.
"Colonel Lane," General Pierce began without preamble, gesturing toward the main screen at the front of the room. "The financial audit of the Whitmore Foundation gave us the financial footprint, but our NSA partners have just tracked the primary communication node back to an active cyber-cell operating out of Zurich, Switzerland."
An NSA analyst took over, tapping his keyboard to project a complex web of IP addresses and routing maps onto the display. "This cell, known operationally as 'Iron Syndicate,' has been using Blake Harrington’s shell corporations as a primary conduit to extract classified defense tech blueprints. Now that Blake is in custody, they are attempting to purge their servers and erase all digital traces before we can intercept them."
"And they don't realize we’ve already mapped their backup nodes," I noted, studying the data streams.
"Exactly," General Pierce replied. "Which is why Washington has authorized an immediate, cross-border digital sting operation. We need a lead cybersecurity architect who understands both federal defense protocols and domestic financial architecture to spearhead the infiltration." She paused, locking her eyes directly onto mine. "And the Secretary of Defense requested you personally for the mission."
I didn't hesitate. "I'm ready, General. When do we strike?"
"Twenty-four hours," Pierce said firmly. "You will be redeployed to a secure cyber-command post in Germany to oversee the live server extraction. Once we lock down their international nodes, the entire syndicate will collapse just like your family’s empire did."
As the briefing concluded and the NSA officers packed up their equipment, I walked over to the reinforced glass window overlooking the Atlanta skyline. In the distance, the spires of my father’s shuttered megachurch were barely visible against the gray afternoon clouds.

The Whitmore name, once synonymous with untouchable moral authority and elite social standing in Georgia, was now a cautionary tale of greed, hypocrisy, and total collapse.
My mother had called my personal cell phone three times that morning, leaving frantic, tearful voicemails begging for financial help, legal advice, or even just a conversation. I hadn't answered a single one. For years, they had treated me like a ghost because I didn't fit their shallow definition of success. Now that my world was expanding across continents and national security briefings, they were discovering what happens when you underestimate someone who spent years mastering the digital architecture of the modern world.
