Chapter 1 - THE IMPOSSIBLE CHOICEThe silence in the trauma bay was heavy, suffocating. Adrian looked at me, then at the curtain separating me from the woman who looked at him like he was her world.

"She’s hemodynamically crashing faster," Adrian whispered, his voice trembling. "Rachel, your vitals are holding... for now."
"Adrian, no," I gasped, the fetal monitor’s alarm turning into a long, agonizing whine. "She’s a stranger!"
"She’s not a stranger," he choked out, the admission tearing through the room. "She’s my sister. The one you thought died fifteen years ago."
