A hostile takeover was looming, his company was at risk, and the world expected him to be the shark he’d always been.

He didn't answer the board. He stood up, walked to Laya’s room, and found her asleep, clutching a teddy bear. He whispered a promise he had no idea how to keep: "I’m going to change everything."
