Chapter 3 - THE STRANGER IN THE PURPLE COATThe next morning, Derek did something he hadn't done in years: he skipped a meeting. He went back to the red awning near the city center. The woman—her name was Sarah, he learned—was still there, but Daisy was shivering, her face pale.

"She’s sick," Sarah said, her voice strained. "The heat in our building got shut off."

Derek didn't think about his schedule. He scooped the girl up, ignored the crowd’s stares, and rushed them to the private wing of the hospital he secretly funded. He wasn't acting as a billionaire; he was acting as a man who had seen his own daughter’s heart reflected in a stranger’s eyes.
