Chapter 9 - THE ULTIMATE TAKEOVERThree months later, the boardroom of Montgomery Tower in Manhattan was flooded with the brilliant, golden light of a crisp spring morning.
The long mahogany table was surrounded by senior executives, board members, and legal counsels. Every seat was filled. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation, the air practically humming with corporate tension.
At the head of the table sat Eleanor Montgomery.
She wore a sharp, ivory silk suit. Her dark hair was pulled back into a sleek, flawless knot, and her expression was utterly serene.
On the polished wood directly beside her sleek laptop sat a small, high-tech designer bassinet. Inside it, a baby girl with bright, inquisitive eyes and a shock of dark hair was chewing happily on a teething ring shaped like a corporate fountain pen.
The head legal counsel cleared his throat, standing up to address the board.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” the attorney began, his voice echoing off the glass walls. “Following the legal restructuring of the Montgomery Family Trust and the permanent dissolution of unauthorized subsidiary holdings, the controlling interest of Montgomery Enterprises has been officially consolidated.”
He paused, glancing down at the official document in his hand.
“By unanimous decree of the trustees, and pursuant to Section 4 of the corporate charter, all primary voting shares are hereby assigned in perpetuity to the sole legal heir and ward of the majority stakeholder.”
The attorney turned his head respectfully toward Eleanor.
“Welcome, Ms. Victoria Montgomery, to the board.”

A ripple of stunned silence swept through the room, followed slowly by the hesitant, then thunderous, applause of senior executives who suddenly realized that the most ruthless corporate titan in New York had just secured her empire for the next generation.
Eleanor didn't smile. She simply reached down, gently taking Victoria’s tiny, warm hand in her own, guiding the baby’s finger to tap once against the polished wooden table.
