Chapter 10 - JusticeThe empire fell within forty-eight hours. The news cycle couldn't keep up. The Moretti family assets were seized, the board was dismantled, and Vanessa and her father were led away in cuffs, their faces plastered across every screen in the world.

I didn't stay to claim a reward. I took Emma and left, hoping to disappear.
But a month later, a black car pulled up to my small apartment. Alessandro stepped out. He looked tired, older, but his eyes were clear.
"The money in the estate accounts," he said, handing me a folder. "It’s been cleared by the federal auditors. It’s clean. And it’s yours. It was supposed to be theirs, but they don't deserve a cent of it."
"Why me?" I asked.
"Because," he said, looking at the small, modest home I’d created for my daughter, "you didn't just save my life. You finished the work my father started."

I looked at the folder. It was enough to move, enough to start over, enough to give my daughter the life Daniel wanted for her. I finally closed the door on the nightmare.
