Chapter 8 - The Evidence ExposedMarcus stared down from the dais, his color completely gone, looking like a man who had just seen a ghost.

“That’s... that’s false!” Marcus stammered, his microphone picking up the violent shaking in his voice. “She’s lying! My wife forged those documents to frame me!”

“Your wife,” Attorney Vance said smoothly, turning to face the congregation while holding up a certified digital forensic report, “spent eight years as a senior compliance analyst before dedicating her life to this church. She didn't forge documents, Mr. Carter. She audited them.”

Vance held up a high-resolution projection sheet, syncing it to the giant church screens overhead.

Instantly, the pastoral welcome banner vanished.

In its place, massive financial ledgers appeared on screen—showing the forged home equity loan with my exact signature falsified by Marcus, followed by wire transfer receipts routing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the church benevolent fund into Marcus and Derek’s offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands.

The congregation sat in paralyzed shock. Sister Martha wept openly in the fifth row, while several elders buried their faces in their hands in utter devastation.

“Furthermore,” Attorney Vance continued, “we have secured court orders freezing all personal and corporate assets associated with Mr. Carter, including his unauthorized mortgages on parishioner properties.”
