Chapter 3 - The Federal InterventionBefore Arthur could process the sting of my refusal, the blare of sirens cut through the quiet suburban air surrounding the academy grounds.

Not campus security sirens. Federal law enforcement sirens.
Two sleek black SUVs with tinted windows and federal government plates came tearing through the main iron gates of Westbridge Military Academy, tires screeching against the pavement before coming to a hard stop right at the edge of the stone courtyard.
The doors flew open simultaneously. Four federal agents in tactical windbreakers and suits stepped out, led by a tall, sharp-featured woman with an FBI badge displayed prominently on her belt.
The entire crowd parted like the Red Sea.
My father’s face drained of every remaining drop of color. He looked at the approaching agents, then back at me, his mouth opening and closing soundlessly like a fish out of water.
Special Agent Sarah Vance—no relation, as she would later clarify—strode past the frozen rows of cadets and walked straight up the stone steps of the graduation platform. She didn't look at the academy president; she looked directly at Arthur Vance, who was now backed against a concrete pillar by the base of the stairs.
"Arthur Vance?" Agent Vance asked, her voice clipped and professional.
"There... there's been a mistake," Arthur stammered, stepping back, his hands raised defensively. "This is a private family matter. My daughter is—"
"Arthur Vance, you are under arrest for wire fraud, identity theft, interstate transportation of stolen funds, and tax evasion," Agent Vance said coldly, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from her belt. "Turn around and place your hands behind your back."
"You can't do this!" Victoria shrieked, charging forward like a madwoman to claw at the agent’s arm. "Do you know who we are? We contribute millions to the state police fund! We are pillars of this community!"
"Ma'am, step back or you will be placed under arrest as well for obstruction of justice," a second male agent warned, stepping squarely into Victoria's path and guiding her back with a firm, immovable hand.
Julian sat frozen in his chair, staring straight ahead, paralyzed as the handcuffs clicked into place around his father’s wrists.
I stood at the podium, looking down at the man who had spent my entire life trying to shrink me into nothingness. The man who had struck me across the face less than ten minutes ago, believing he still held absolute power over my existence.
Arthur looked up at me, his eyes wide with a mixture of fury, betrayal, and absolute humiliation.

"You ruined us," Arthur spat, spittle flying from his lips as the agents forced him toward the waiting SUV. "You ruined your own family over money!"
"No, Dad," I replied, my voice echoing clearly across the courtyard as I clutched my diploma and my red-wax folder. "I didn't ruin the family. I just stopped letting you write the script."
