Chapter 8 - Epilogue — The New CEOThree months later.

The glass-walled executive boardroom on the fiftieth floor of Vale Medical Tower overlooked the dazzling skyline of Manhattan.
The sun was setting, casting a warm golden glow across a sleek mahogany conference table covered in legal portfolios, asset restructuring documents, and corporate acquisition agreements.
I sat at the head of the table, dressed in a sharp, tailored executive suit, my hair pinned back in a clean, professional twist.
The Harrow Foundation had been completely restructured. Following federal asset forfeiture and corporate reorganization, the controlling voting shares had legally reverted to me as the rightful heir. Instead of closing down the foundation’s assets, I had converted them into a permanent, fully funded public healthcare trust dedicated to providing free cardiac surgeries for underprivileged students and families.
My father had made a full recovery, resting comfortably in a quiet suburban home we had chosen together—far away from Celeste, far away from secrets, and far away from lies.
The heavy oak doors of the boardroom opened softly.
Adrian walked in, carrying two cups of hot black coffee. He set one down gently beside my laptop, leaning over to press a soft kiss against the top of my head.
“You’ve been reviewing those endowment reports for four hours straight, Madam CEO,” Adrian teased softly, a warm smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
I leaned back in my leather chair, taking a sip of the coffee, and smiled up at him.
“Somebody has to keep your corporate empire honest, Dr. Vale,” I replied smoothly.
Adrian chuckled, pulling out the chair directly beside mine and sitting down, lacing his fingers through mine.
“I think,” Adrian whispered, looking into my eyes with absolute devotion, “that I’ve finally met my match.”
I looked out the massive glass window toward the bright horizon, knowing that the frightened girl who had stood in a dark stairwell months ago was gone forever. I wasn't just a survivor anymore.
