Chapter 5 - TRAPPED IN THE LABYRINTHSerena’s manicured fingernails tapped rhythmically against the wooden frame of the wine rack, inches from Lily’s face. The scent of her expensive perfume mixed with the earthy smell of the cellar, suffocating and sharp.

"I know someone is here," Serena murmured, her voice dripping with venom. "If it's you, Lily, you should know that playing hero is a fatal game in this house."

Before Serena could peer around the corner, a sudden, piercing alarm shrilled through the entire mansion. Red emergency strobe lights began flashing violently along the cellar walls, casting strobing shadows across the stone floors.

“WARNING: STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY COMPROMISED IN EAST WING. AUTOMATED SEAL ENGAGED.”

Serena spun around, her composure cracking for the first time. "Dammit! He found the journal," she hissed, abandoning her search of the wine cellar and sprinting back toward the main staircase.

Lily waited until Serena’s footsteps faded into the distance before collapsing against the wall, gasping for air. But she didn't have time to recover. On the stone floor where Serena had been standing, something caught the flashing red light—a small, silver flash drive stamped with the Hale family crest and labeled: CLARA_FINAL_CONFESSION.MP4.

Without hesitation, Lily scooped up the flash drive and slipped it into her pocket. She needed to get back to the study, grab Ethan, and find a way to get out of the mansion before the automated lockdown sealed every exit permanently.

As she reached the top of the cellar stairs, however, she found her path blocked. The heavy iron security gate at the end of the hallway had slammed shut, its digital keypad blinking a harsh, mocking crimson: ACCESS DENIED.
