Chapter 10 - The Final SecretOne year later.

The small, sunlit chapel in upstate New York was quiet, far away from the flashing cameras and ravenous media of Manhattan. There were no politicians, no corporate boards, and no fake socialites.
There were only twenty people in attendance—Director Vance, a few trusted federal agents, and the loyal staff who had stood by Grace through the storm.
Grace stood in front of the rustic wooden altar wearing a simple ivory dress, her hair pinned up with the faded blue ribbon her mother figure had given her.
As Alexander watched her walk down the aisle, holding a bouquet of white roses identical to the ones that had rested on Eleanor Mercer’s casket a year ago, he felt a profound, unshakeable peace.
When the ceremony concluded and they stepped out into the bright autumn sunlight, Grace pulled a small, weathered envelope from her pocket.
"What's that?" Alexander asked, slipping his hand into hers as they walked toward the vintage car waiting by the gate.
"Your mother left one final letter in the estate safe," Grace said softly, handing it to him. "She gave it to my aunt the day before she died, with instructions that it only be opened one year after the dust settled."
Alexander broke the wax seal, unfolding the thick parchment. Eleanor’s familiar, elegant handwriting greeted him:
"My dearest Alexander,
If you are reading this, it means Grace succeeded in saving you from the monsters we allowed to surround our lives. For thirty years, I lived in the shadow of your father's sins, trying to protect you by building a wall of money and power. I was wrong. Power only isolates us.
Grace came to destroy us, but she stayed to save you. And in doing so, she saved herself.
There is no fortune left to inherit, my son. But I leave you something infinitely more valuable: the truth, a clear conscience, and the only woman on earth strong enough to stand beside you in the fire.
With all my love, Mother."
Alexander folded the letter, a single tear escaping his eye as he looked down at Grace.

She smiled up at him, her eyes shining with unshed tears of joy.
He leaned down and kissed her, right there in the golden autumn light, knowing at last that the sins of the past were buried forever—and their real story was just beginning.
