Chapter 5 - The Boardroom AmbushDowntown Manhattan—or rather, downtown Lagos, inside the towering glass monolith of Okafor Dominion.

The executive boardroom on the fiftieth floor was packed. Board members, legal consultants, and media representatives sat in hushed suspense as Aunt Ifeoma stood at the head of the polished glass table, looking every bit the triumphant queen.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” Ifeoma announced, her voice dripping with false sorrow. “For three long years, we have prayed for a miracle for my beloved nephew, Obinna. But medical reality is harsh. Today, we must formally vote to dissolve his voting trusts and restructure Okafor Dominion under my provisional leadership.”

Murmurs of agreement rippled through the corrupt board members who had been bribed with shares and luxury cars.

“I call for a vote,” Ifeoma declared, raising her hand.

“I object.”

The heavy mahogany double doors of the boardroom suddenly burst open with a resounding bang.

Every head snapped toward the entrance.

Silence fell so fast you could hear the air conditioning humming.

Walking through the doors wasn't a ghost. It wasn't a vegetable.

It was Obinna Okafor.

Dressed in a sharp, impeccably tailored charcoal suit that hung slightly loose on his frame, his hair neatly cut, and his dark eyes blazing with an unholy, terrifying fire, he walked with steady, unyielding steps straight toward the head of the table.

Behind him walked two federal corporate crime investigators and me, wearing a crisp executive blazer over my dress.
