Chapter 6 - The Ultimate Twist (The Final Ending)


"Did you really think I didn't know about your ambitions, cousin?" Alexander said, his voice cutting through the panic. "I knew my court was corrupt. The bakery, the fake poverty, the wedding—it was all a trap to make you think I was vulnerable so you would expose your shadow network."
Before Julian could call his loyal guards, the royal military, led by Commander Vance, surrounded Julian and his co-conspirators.
"Arrest them all. Treason against the crown carries the penalty of life imprisonment in the deep dungeons," Alexander ordered.
Evelyn threw herself at Clara’s feet, weeping and begging for mercy. "Clara! Please! I am your mother! Forgive me!"
Clara looked down at the woman who had publicly disowned her just days before. With a calm, steady voice, Clara said, "You chose gold over your own daughter. Now, you can enjoy the poverty you so desperately feared."
With the traitors dragged away, Alexander unlocked Clara’s chains himself. He turned to the massive crowd of citizens.
"Behold your Queen," Alexander announced, lifting Clara’s hand high into the air. The crowd erupted into thunderous cheers, their voices echoing across the kingdom.
But as Clara looked into Alexander’s eyes, smiling through her tears, she felt a small slip of paper he had secretly pressed into her palm during the embrace. Later that evening, in the safety of their private quarters, she opened it. The note read:

Clara’s heart stopped as she realized the true battle for the kingdom was only just beginning.
