Chapter 8 - THE NEW DYNASTY

Three months later, the Russo estate looked entirely different—and yet, strangely, exactly the same.

The shattered windows had been replaced with reinforced, bullet-resistant laminated glass that could withstand an armor-piercing round. The gardens had been replanted with lush, imported boxwood hedges and high-definition thermal security cameras disguised as antique iron lanterns. The dark history of that stormy night in July had been quietly buried beneath shell corporations, bribed municipal reports, and the absolute, terrifying silence of the Chicago underworld.

Inside the grand dining room, the crystal chandelier caught the evening candlelight, casting a warm, golden glow across the long mahogany table.

Dante Russo sat at the head of the table, cutting a piece of prime rib with effortless, unhurried grace. Across from him sat three regional syndicate heads from New York, Detroit, and Las Vegas—men who controlled billions in shipping, finance, and real estate, men who wouldn't dare look Dante in the eye without bowing their heads in deep, genuine deference.

"The port routes out of Miami are fully secured, Dante," the New York boss said, leaning forward across the table, his voice laced with cautious respect. "Leo’s old shell companies have been liquidated, and the cartel has officially backed off our western borders after Valez... well, let's just say they got the message."

Dante took a slow sip of his red wine, his face calm, carved from absolute, untouchable power.

"Good," Dante said, his voice carrying effortlessly across the room. "Let it be known to anyone who ever questions the foundation of this family: loyalty isn't bought with money or promises. It is forged in fire, and tested in blood."

The other bosses nodded in unison, raising their glasses in silent, absolute agreement.

At the far end of the room, standing quietly beside the service entrance with a tray of fresh dessert plates, Beatrice Moore watched the scene unfold. She didn't smile, but a deep, unbreakable sense of pride settled into her posture.
