Chapter 4 - The Red Dress TransformationBy 7:00 PM, the top floor of the Grand uptown hotel in Charlotte was buzzing with elite society. Crystal chandeliers cast warm light over ice sculptures, free-flowing champagne, and hundreds of powerful figures in tuxedos and evening gowns.

Trevor stood near the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city skyline, holding a crystal glass of scotch. He was wearing an Italian tuxedo that cost more than his entire former monthly salary. Beside him, Chloe looked radiant in a silver silk gown.
"Have you heard from your pathetic ex-wife?" Chloe asked, taking a sip of her drink.
"She replied twenty minutes ago," Trevor smirked, checking his gold watch. "She’s waiting in the lobby right now, trembling, ready to sign whatever non-disclosure agreement and confession paper I put in front of her. She’s desperate."
"Make sure she signs section four," Chloe warned. "The part that surrenders all parental rights to you if she violates the silence clause. We can't have her going to the media later."
"Don't worry," Trevor chuckled. "Brooke is weak. She never had a spine. She’ll do whatever I tell her to do."
Suddenly, the massive double doors of the ballroom swung open.
The room didn't just fall quiet—it went completely silent. The orchestra ceased playing mid-note.
Walking into the grand ballroom was not a broken, tear-streaked woman carrying a diaper bag.
It was Brooke Ellery.
She walked with the posture of a queen. She wore an emerald-green silk dress that swept the floor, custom-fitted to perfection, accentuating her stunning figure. Her dark hair was swept up in an elegant vintage style, highlighting her radiant skin and icy, calm expression. Diamonds glittered around her neck and wrists.
And walking right beside her, holding her arm with absolute authority and quiet power, was Reid Vance.
Trevor’s scotch glass nearly slipped from his fingers. His mouth fell wide open. "What... what the hell is this?"
Chloe’s eyes narrowed into slashes of pure venom. "How is she here? Who bought her those clothes?"
Brooke didn't look at the crowd. She kept her chin high, feeling Reid’s reassuring presence beside her. Over the last four hours, Reid’s elite team hadn't just given her a makeover—they had spent four hours drilling her on corporate law, forensic auditing, and the exact financial codes Trevor had used to steal the money.
Reid led Brooke straight through the sea of guests, who parted like the Red Sea, murmuring in absolute shock.
"Look at him," someone whispered. "Isn't he supposed to be under arrest?" "Who is that woman with him? She looks like royalty!"
Reid stopped directly in front of Trevor and Chloe. The tension in the air was so thick it was suffocating.

"Good evening, Trevor," Brooke spoke first. Her voice was crystal clear, ringing across the silent room. "You left our apartment locks changed in Dallas. I thought I’d bring you the spare key."
She reached into her purse, pulled out a heavy metal key, and dropped it straight into Trevor’s glass of scotch with a sharp clink.
