Chapter 3 - The Exposed Fraud"The party is over. In fact, your entire lives are about to collapse."

Derek’s senior law partners stood up simultaneously. The eldest among them, a distinguished man with silver hair named Arthur Vance, straightened his suit jacket and looked down at Derek with profound disgust.

"Derek," Vance said softly, his voice cutting through the tension like a straight razor. "Is there any truth to what your sister-in-law is presenting?"

"No! Of course not, Arthur!" Derek stammered, sweating profusely despite the cool breeze. "Tessa has always been jealous of Kelsey and me! She’s bitter because Grandmother left her fewer liquid assets in the initial draft of the estate! She’s making this up to humiliate us!"

"Jealous?" I laughed bitterly, holding up another document. "Derek, this isn't just about the $750,000 loan. Let's talk about Grandmother Eleanor's actual estate."

My mother stepped forward, her voice trembling. "Tessa, stop this right now! Your grandmother left Cedar Grove Farm to your father and me, with the understanding that it stays in the family! You received your small cash distribution five years ago!"

"That's what you told me, Mom," I said, looking her dead in the eye. "That's the lie you and Dad fed me for seven years while you used me as a free property manager. You told me Grandmother left me $20,000, while the rest went into a family trust managed by Dad."

I pulled out a thick, leather-bound document with an official court seal from the Supreme Court of Virginia.

"Grandmother Eleanor didn't leave the farm to you and Dad," I revealed, watching my father’s jaw drop. "She created the Eleanor Whitmore Irrevocable Grandchildren's Trust. Cedar Grove Farm, along with its 400 acres of timberland and the $2 million investment portfolio attached to it, was placed directly into a trust strictly designated for my children, Benjamin and Lucy, and any future grandchildren."

The atmosphere on the patio shifted instantly. Guests began murmuring loudly, pulling out their phones, and moving away from my parents as if they carried a contagious disease.

"Dad was named as the temporary trustee solely until my children reached the age of 21," I continued, my voice echoing off the brick walls of the farmhouse. "But seven years ago, Dad illegally modified the trust documents with the help of a corrupt probate lawyer. He transferred control of the funds to himself, allowed Kelsey and Derek to siphon off cash to cover their debts, and treated this farm like his personal playground while ignoring the beneficiaries—my children."

"You... you couldn't have found those documents," my father whispered, his voice barely audible. The crystal glass slipped from his hand, shattering against the flagstone patio, spilling scotch and ice everywhere. "The probate records were sealed!"

"They were sealed," I replied with a cold smile. "Until a whistleblower in your lawyer's former firm reached out to me last month. The trust was never yours, Dad. This house isn't yours. The land isn't yours. And you just spent the last five minutes telling the true owners of this property that they weren't welcome on their own land."
