Chapter 4 - The Ultimatum"You have sixty minutes to pack your bags and get off my children's property."

My mother looked as if she had been slapped across the face. She turned to my father, her hands clutching her designer top. "Harold! Tell me this isn't true! Tell me you didn't touch Eleanor's trust!"

"Shut up, Elaine!" my father snapped, losing his cool demeanor completely. He glared at me, his eyes filled with pure rage. "You think you're clever, don't you, Tessa? You think you can come in here, throw around some legal mumbo-jumbo, and ruin your sister's life? Even if those documents are real, I am still the named trustee on record! You have no legal standing to kick anyone off this property today!"

"That's where you're wrong, Dad," I said smoothly.

I reached into my bag and pulled out a freshly signed emergency court order from the Fauquier County Circuit Court.

"Yesterday afternoon, a judge signed an emergency injunction suspending your trustee powers effective immediately due to clear evidence of fiduciary breach and grand larceny," I explained. "I have been appointed as the temporary emergency trustee of Cedar Grove Farm. Which means, legally, I am the sole manager of this entire property right now."

I turned to look at the dozens of wealthy, influential guests who were standing around in stunned silence.

"Ladies and gentlemen," I said loudly, addressing the crowd. "I apologize for the disruption to your Labor Day weekend. But this private event is officially over. You have sixty minutes to clear your vehicles from the premises before I call the county sheriff’s department to have them towed for trespassing."

Panicked whispers broke out. Derek’s senior partner, Arthur Vance, looked at Derek with absolute contempt.

"Derek," Vance said coldly. "Don't bother coming into the office on Tuesday morning. HR will have your personal belongings packed in boxes and waiting at the security desk. We cannot have a man facing felony identity theft and loan fraud representing our firm."

"Arthur, please! Let me explain! It's a family misunderstanding!" Derek begged, grabbing Vance’s arm.

Vance yanked his arm back violently. "Touch me again, Derek, and I'll ensure the State Bar association revokes your license before the week is over."

Vance turned on his heel and walked away toward his Mercedes. Within seconds, the rest of the guests followed suit, frantically grabbing their designer bags, abandoning their drinks, and rushing toward their luxury cars lined up along the fence.

Kelsey fell to her knees on the patio, sobbing uncontrollably as she watched her high-society life evaporate right before her eyes. "Tessa, how could you do this to me?! You ruined my marriage! You ruined Derek's career!"

"You ruined yourself, Kelsey," I said down to her. "You stood right there five minutes ago and told my nine-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter that they were unwanted. You told them there was no space for them. Now, pack your things. You have 55 minutes left."
