Chapter 3: The Lie Buried for Six Years

Daniel stood frozen in the jewelry store, gripping Lilyâs hand like the floor had disappeared beneath him.
âMine too?â he whispered.
Victorâs eyes were wet.
âEmma was pregnant when she vanished. I was told she chose another man. She was told I paid someone to make her disappear.â
Danielâs chest tightened.
âWho told her that?â
Victorâs face darkened.
âMy mother.â
At that exact moment, Lily looked up and whispered,
âDaddy⊠can we save Mommy first?â
Those words broke everything.
Victorâs private car raced through the city with Daniel and Lily inside. By the time they reached the hospital, Emma was pale, weak, and barely breathing.
When Victor entered the room, Emmaâs eyes widened in horror.
âNoâŠâ she whispered. âYou canât be here.â
Victor stepped closer.
âEmma, I never left you.â
Tears slipped down her face.
âBut your mother showed me the papers. She said you signed them. She said Lily and I were a mistake.â
Victor shook his head.
âShe lied.â
Suddenly, the door opened.
An elegant older woman in pearls walked in slowly.
Victoria Harrison.
Victorâs mother.
Her face turned cold the second she saw Lily.
âSo,â she said quietly, âthe little secret survived.â
Danielâs blood ran cold.
Emma began crying harder.
Victor turned to his mother.
âWhat did you do?â
Victoria smiled like she had already won.
âI protected our family name.â
Then she looked at Daniel.
âAnd you⊠you raised a billionaireâs child like she was charity.â
Daniel stepped forward, furious.
But before anyone could speak, Lily walked to Emmaâs hospital bed, placed her teddy bear beside her, and whispered,
âMommy, please donât go. I still need you.â
The room went silent.
Even Victor stopped breathing.
Then Emma reached weakly under her pillow and pulled out a small envelope.
âI kept this⊠in case Lily ever needed the truth.â
Inside was a birth certificate.
A hidden DNA report.
And one final letter naming the person who had destroyed their family.
Victor read the last lineâŠ
Then looked at his mother with tears and rage in his eyes.
âYou didnât just steal my daughter.â
âYou nearly killed the woman I loved.â
Victoriaâs smile finally disappeared.

Because for the first time in her lifeâŠ
