Chapter 8: The Son Chose... But It Wasn't the Family He Expected

Three days later...
The Harrison family headquarters looked more like a fortress than a corporate office.
Police surrounded the building.
Private security guarded every entrance.
Victor had only one mission.
Bring Noah home.
Emma insisted on coming despite still recovering from heart surgery.
"I've already lost twelve years," she whispered.
"I'm not losing another day."
Across the city, inside Sinclair Manor...
Edward calmly adjusted Noah's tie.
"You know why they're coming."
Noah nodded.
"They want to steal everything you've given me."
Edward smiled proudly.
"I raised you to be strong."
"No weakness."
"No forgiveness."
"No family."
"They abandoned you."
Noah believed every word.
For twelve years, Edward had told him the same story.
Your parents sold you.
They wanted your sister.
Not you.
They never came back.
Every birthday.
Every Christmas.
Every lonely night.
The lie became his truth.
An hour later...
Victor, Daniel, Emma, and Lily arrived at Sinclair Manor.
The massive iron gates slowly opened.
Edward was already waiting.
"So..."
"The happy family reunion."
Victor stepped forward.
"We're taking Noah home."
Edward laughed.
"You can certainly ask him."
He turned toward the mansion.
"Noah."
The front door opened.
A tall teenage boy walked outside.
His expression was cold.
Emma burst into tears.
"My baby..."
She took one step forward.
Noah immediately backed away.
"Don't call me that."
Emma's heart shattered.
"I never stopped looking for you."
"You lit candles for me every birthday."
"You bought gifts you'll never remember."
"I wrote letters you'll never read."
Noah looked confused for the first time.
Edward interrupted instantly.
"More lies."
Lily quietly walked toward her brother.
She carried her old white teddy bear.
Without saying a word...
She placed it into Noah's hands.
He frowned.
"What is this?"
Lily smiled through her tears.
"When I was little..."
"Mom always told me my brother would recognize this."
Inside the teddy bear was a tiny zipper.
Noah slowly opened it.
A folded piece of paper fell into his hand.
It was old.
Yellow with age.
The handwriting was unmistakably Emma's.
If you're reading this, it means someone kept us apart. I don't know where you are, my sweet boy, but I have loved you every single day of your life. If I never find you, please know this wasn't your fault. I fought for you until they made me believe you were gone. I will always be waiting. — Mom
Noah's hands began to tremble.
He looked at Edward.
"You told me..."
"...she never wanted me."
Edward remained silent.
Victor quietly handed Noah another envelope.
Inside were twelve birthday cards.
One for every year of his life.
Each unopened.
Each addressed to Noah.
Emma had written them long before she knew whether he was alive.
Noah opened the first one.
Then the second.
Then the third.
By the twelfth letter...
His vision was blurred with tears.
Everything Edward had taught him...
Every story...
Every memory...
Began to collapse.
Edward's calm expression disappeared.
"Noah."
"Don't listen to them."
But Noah slowly turned around.
His voice shook.
"You lied to me..."
"My whole life."
Edward stepped closer.
"I made you strong."
"No..."
Noah whispered.
"You made me lonely."
Then...
For the first time in twelve years...
He walked toward Emma.
She was afraid to touch him.
Afraid he would disappear again.
Instead...
Noah wrapped his arms around her.
"Mom..."
Emma collapsed into tears, holding both Noah and Lily as if she would never let go again.
Victor closed his eyes in relief.
Daniel smiled through tears.
It finally seemed over.
But Edward suddenly began to laugh.
Not nervously.
Not desperately.
Confidently.
"You think you've won?"
He pulled a small remote control from his pocket.
A red light began flashing beneath the mansion.
Victor's face turned pale.
"Everyone..."
"GET OUT!"
Edward smiled one last time.
"If I can't keep this family..."
"...no one will."
A deafening explosion erupted beneath Sinclair Manor.
May you like
The entire mansion began collapsing around them.
And Noah was still trapped inside.
