CHAPTER 1: THE WRONG WOMAN

The morning seemed perfect.
The park was nearly empty, covered in the soft glow of sunlight that filtered through the trees. Fresh rainwater still clung to the leaves, and the smell of wet earth filled the air.
Veronika slowed her pace and finally stopped near a quiet path. Sweat glistened on her forehead after a long run. She removed her earbuds and took a deep breath, enjoying the rare silence.
For the first time in weeks, she felt at peace.
Then she heard engines.
Three motorcycles burst around the corner.
The roar shattered the calm morning.
Veronika turned.
Three large men jumped from their bikes and spread out around her.
Their appearance immediately raised alarms.
Tattoos covered their necks and arms. Their eyes carried the confidence of men who had intimidated people many times before.
The leader smirked.
“Well, look what we found.”
His friends laughed.
Veronika said nothing.
The second thug pointed at her watch.
“Nice watch.”
The third noticed the gold chain around her neck.
“Looks expensive.”
The leader stepped closer.
“Hand over your phone. The chain too. Save yourself some trouble.”
Veronika slowly looked at each of them.
Three men.
One exit blocked.
No witnesses nearby.
A perfect setup.
For them.
“Move,” she said calmly.
The men stared at her.
Then they burst into laughter.
“You hear that?” one shouted.
“She thinks she's giving orders.”
The leader's smile disappeared.
“Nobody tells me what to do.”
He reached toward her shoulder.
Big mistake.
The moment his fingers touched her...
Everything changed.
His wrist suddenly twisted.
A sharp crack echoed through the path.
The man's eyes exploded with pain.
Before he could scream, he was already on his knees.
“What the—?!”
The other two froze.
Veronika released his arm.
The leader collapsed to the ground, clutching his wrist.
“What did you do?!” he yelled.
She took one step backward.
Her breathing remained calm.
Her expression remained emotionless.
And that terrified them more than anything.
Because now they realized something.
This woman wasn't scared.
She wasn't trapped.
She had been assessing them.
The entire time.
The second thug charged.
Veronika sighed.
“Wrong choice.”
Seconds later, his face smashed into the muddy ground.
Blood dripped from his nose.
The third man suddenly stopped moving.
Fear appeared in his eyes.
Who was this woman?
And why did she move like a trained fighter?
What none of them knew was that Veronika had spent years working in places where hesitation could get people killed.
And the worst part?
The real nightmare had not even started yet.
Because someone else was watching from nearby.
May you like
Someone much more dangerous.
And he had just recognized her...
